Assistance Programs

General assistance

The Township’s General Assistance Program provides monthly financial assistance to low-income residents to help in meeting their basic living expenses. The process of applying involves filling out an application, then making an appointment for an interview. For more information, call the Case Manager, at 847-234-0802. Emergency assistance

Assistance may be provided by the Township to alleviate life-threatening circumstances. Residents experiencing financial hardship may apply for this assistance to pay for shelter, food, utilities, medical services, or transportation. An individual may receive Emergency Assistance once in a 12-month period. Call the Case Manager, at 847-234-0802 for information.

Home heating assistance

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps senior citizens, lower-income families, the disabled, and individuals on fixed incomes to pay their natural gas and electric utility bills.

You may apply at the Township Office. Financial eligibility guidelines must be met. Please bring your most recent gas and electric utility bills; proof of income; proof of home ownership; rental contract or rent receipt; and Social Security and medical cards for all occupants.
